Enterprise Sales Engineer

As The Enterprise Sales Engineer at Smart Software, you will be an instrumental member of our Sales team with outstanding presentation skills.  Your primary role will be to assist our sales organization to achieve their sales targets by understanding the needs of our customers, strategizing on how to navigate sales cycles, provide software demonstrations of our platform, and lead proof of concepts with prospective customers.  You will provide in-depth knowledge of the technical and functional capabilities of our platform to prospects, customers, and partners. You will effectively present our software platform, articulate its key differentiators, and share our value proposition. You will communicate effectively and effortlessly with all participants from executives to end-users. You will report to the CEO and work actively with the Director of Channel Sales and our direct sales force.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a technical and functional resource in the sales process during engagement with prospects, customers, and channel partners.
  • Provide business expertise in supply chain planning, demand forecasting, and inventory planning within manufacturing, distribution, and aftermarket parts/MRO verticals.
  • Interpret complex forecasting and inventory planning problems and create simple solutions that address customer gaps.
  • Prepare for and conduct both high level and technical software demos throughout the sales cycle.
  • Conduct Proof of Concepts with sales prospects using customer data to identify the financial impact our platform will deliver.  
  • Work with our Channel enablement teams to teach partners how to demonstrate and sell our platform.
  • Execute selling strategies and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Qualify and respond to RFPs.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time to meet with and demo to prospects, customers, and partners.
  • Provide occasional end-user training to support the services team
  • Act as a liaison with the Software Development team to:
    • Recommend product enhancements
    • Help prioritize features on the solution roadmap
    • Provide continual feedback as features are developed to ensure final deliverable meets the requirements.   
  • Develop internal sales curriculum and demo scripts to support the growth of our sales engineering team and partner sales engineers.
  • Develop and refine demo data sets and associated demo scripts
  • Leverage BI and reporting engine to create dashboards and reports to support demonstrations and available out-of-the-box reports
  • Play an active role in sourcing, screening, and interviewing potential candidates to join our sales and sales engineering teams.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in presales supporting supply chain, forecasting, or B2B analytics software.
  • Detailed knowledge of supply chain planning concepts, technology, and processes.
  • Presales experience selling to and demonstrating software to manufacturing, distribution, and/or aftermarket parts/MRO verticals.
  • Strong oral and written communicator
  • Exceptional presentation and software demonstrations skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a flat organization with experience identifying and implementing scalable internal and customer facing process improvements.

Lead QA Engineer

The lead QA engineer will work with the dev team to support releases by building test plans and automated test cases and help solidify the company’s quality engineering framework. In addition, will act as a resource for customer support and implementation teams on product features and issues. This role is measured by the effectiveness of the QA team in improving product quality while progressively improving both QA processes and practices. The role reports to the CTO and will lead a team of two QA engineers.

This is a key position with great visibility and impact. Someone who enjoys technical challenge, to learn new technologies and is a quick learner will have a lot of opportunity to grow and challenge themselves at this fast-growing SaaS company.


  • Build out test plans for each release which include allocating test execution work and test creation work, to meet quality metrics.
  • Manage and monitor the creation of automated test cases
  • Manage and monitor the execution of existing suites of regression, new feature tests and smoke tests.
  • Directly build automated test cases and add to existing test suites
  • Work with the CTO to craft Quality metrics and measure and make visible these metrics to the company.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Computer Science/Engineering or any engineering undergraduate degree
  • 3-5+ years of working as a hands-on QA engineer on web-based Enterprise and/or SaaS software.
  • Experience writing automated test cases in Junit, Selenium etc… And performance tests with JMeter.
  • Familiarity with Test Management Systems like JIRA Zephyr highly desirable
  • Management experience highly desirable.
  • Collaborative and flexible team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Must love ongoing learning and taking on new challenges.
  • Must love working at startups and in a very flat organization
  • Experience with AWS and Supply Chain Software highly desirable.
