Provider Pros to Know Award Supply & Demand Chain
Executive's "Provider Pros to Know" recognizes a select group of individuals
from a software firm or service provider, consultancy, or analyst/research
firmwho have helped clients or the supply chain community address the major
challenges facing organizations in the year ahead as the economy turns from
recession towards recovery. This is the seventh year in a row that Mr.
Smart has been selected for this prestigious supply chain industry award.
According to the publication, "the men and women included in the 2012 Pros
to Know exemplify the talent, knowledge, skills and effort necessary for supply
chain leadership. They are an elite group leading the industry and their own
enterprises into the evolving future."
"Our annual list of "Provider Pros to Know" highlights the many
thought-leaders who are helping to shape the supply chain industry and advance
supply chain as a respected discipline in the enterprise," said Barry
Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "Their
efforts in developing the tools, processes and knowledge base necessary for
supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain
enablement, have earned them a place on this year's Provider Pros listing."
Mr. Smart, a co-founder of Smart Software, has managed the company's growing
role in developing innovative solutions to supply chain challenges for more than
twenty-seven years. He has helped pioneer numerous forecasting
innovations, including the development of a patented solution for forecasting
intermittent, or "slow moving", demand. He has written a variety of
articles for professional and trade publications, and speaks to industry groups
about effectively using demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization
solutions to reduce costs, improve customer service, and make better use of
company assets.
100 Great Supply Chain Partners Award Supply Chain Brain
magazine chose Smart Software for its list of "100 Great Supply Chain
Partners" for the sixth year in a row. Smart was nominated for this
distinction by several of its customers from manufacturing, distribution, and
service parts organizations that use its flagship product, SmartForecasts, to
achieve outstanding demand forecasting and inventory planning results.
"We received thousands of nominations this year, including many multiple
nominations for the same company," said Russell Goodman, editor in chief of
Supply Chain Brain. "That no one can compel anybody to take time
from their busy workday to send a message to us in itself says something very
important about the services these nominees provide: their clients appreciate
what they do for them. But here's the point: Each has strengths that
it brought to bear on the needs and challenges of its customer. And each
did its job so well that the customer clearly feels it emerged as a winner."
